The History of the Blue Line Hockey Club
The Blue Line Hockey Club was originally founded in 1978 by Assumption hockey alumni Tom Simeone '78, Jim Hayes '79, Gary McCarthy '78, Bob Benoit ’79, with the guidance of Sports Information Director and Assumption Athletic Hall of Fame member Steve "Mercury" Morris.
Through 1983, the Club flourished because of one simple idea: bring together the Assumption Hockey family—alumni, players, parents, and friends—to strengthen lifelong connections while supporting the hockey program. Although the Club gradually faded following coaching changes and the introduction of the A Club newsletter, its founding vision never lost its value.
Today, that vision has been renewed.
In July 2026, the Blue Line Hockey Club was officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to advancing Assumption University Men's Hockey through alumni engagement, volunteerism, mentorship, and philanthropic support. Reconnecting the remarkable brotherhood of Assumption Hockey alumni, families, and friends is central to our mission. Together, we can help ensure the program's continued excellence for generations to come.
As we move forward, we'll share opportunities throughout the year to reconnect, volunteer, serve on committees, mentor student-athletes, attend events, and help shape the Club's future.
If you'd like to be part of building something special, we'd love to hear from you.
Go Hounds!
